Yesterday I was informed by individuals within our congregation that within the past 48 hours, they have tested positive for Covid-19. These individuals have attended both our Sunday morning gatherings and our smaller group meetings. They, at the time of our meetings, were not experiencing any symptoms that led them to believe they had Covid-19, but as the week progressed, they felt it was important they be tested which, as I mentioned, came back with a positive result.
With that information in front of me, I believe it is wisdom for us to take a step back. I have no fear about this virus, but with all of the information (and misinformation) swirling around about its potency, I want to make sure I do what I can to protect those who might be vulnerable to this thing.
So, effective immediately, we will not be having in-person gatherings for the next 4 weeks. After that time has passed, we will reevaluate and pray about where we are and make a decision on when we will be congregating again.
In John 4, Yahshua tells the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well: “...a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem (the temple)… Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
What’s my point? We are a tribe of sons and daughters of Yahweh whom He has drawn together. However, Sunday mornings in a building – though good and important - is not what the Bible is talking about when referring to “the church.” We know that word is ekklesia, and it is not a building, it is a people.
I so love gathering together, and we will again soon, but I ask you to trust me and Holy Spirit within me, to make this call based on wisdom and not fear. As for this Sunday, we will not be livestreaming simply because I want to take some time to pause, set my opinions aside, and listen to how I believe Abba wants me to proceed.
Though I would rather you hear this from me live, I wanted to get this information to you as quickly as possible so that you could make an informed decision about testing and/or taking any other precautions you feel led to pursue. However, Eva and I ask you to join us via livestream tomorrow evening (Saturday, July 18) at 6:30 for more information, and so that we can address this moment publicly.
“Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own opinions. With all your heart rely on him to guide you, and he will lead you in every decision you make. Become intimate with him in whatever you do, and he will lead you wherever you go.”
In this time, I encourage you and your family to WAIT on the Lord. This is another opportunity to respond correctly with faith and the right heart.
I am encouraged and excited about all Yahweh is going to do within our midst. He is so faithful! I love you and look forward to speaking to you tomorrow. Be blessed!
